1929 sport coupe I'm new to this forum and the Model A. I bought a 1929 Sport Coupe. The car doesn't sit level. The left side is lower than the right by about 3/4", a little less in the front than the rear.
Tire pressure is good shackles are tight and at the same angle from left to right. The spring eye is of equal distance from the axle on each side. Where should I look for the problem and how to solve it? |

Re: 1929 sport coupe If the spring is correctly positioned, it is likely a worn spring. Sometimes they can be re-arched but you have to figure that there must be some fatigue or even a cracked leaf or two in the spring pack. I'm fortunate that there is a pretty good spring shop near me. They can repair some leaves and replace others to get it back to correct ride height.

Re: 1929 sport coupe A lean to the left side is common, and is thought to be a result of 90 years of asymmetric weight distribution from having a single occupant. Most solutions involve some combination of:

Re: 1929 sport coupe grease the spring shackles and make sure they take grease..a shackle can freeze in the spring or perch eye.

Re: 1929 sport coupe Also sometimes one or more shocks are frozen (rusted) and are holding down one side the car.
