restoring chrome plating

I have a fairly new 29 radiator shell that someone has lightly sanded causing the appearance to be similar to unpolished stainless. My question is can chrome in this state ever be brought back? Could it be polished to look again like chrome? I am doubtful but just wondered if anyone has any experience with anything like this-----thanks

It sounds like you have a chrome plated shell that somebody tried to dull down to replicate an original. The originals were not chrome, they were nickel plated. They don't have that blinding glare of chrome, they have a softer, warmer look to them

The specific answer to your question is, that it is highly unlikely simply due to the layer of Chromium is likely too thin to be polished enough to remove the scratches.
