Gas Tank

Just purchased a 1931 Victoria. Is there any way to clean out a gas tank without removing it?

My method 1) put some fuel in, 2) agitate it with an airline 3) drain 4) repeat until clear (or bored) - No sparks anywhere please!

Exactly WHAT are you trying to clean out?

Lacquer thinner works for removing gum left by old time gas. I put about 3 gallons in the tank of the 29 I was working on and every time I walked by the car I would rock it to slosh it around some. After a while I would drain and let settle then added the somewhat cleared stuff back in and repeated the rocking of the car. Followed by flush of fresh gas. Got most of the gum out. This car had been sitting so long there were about two different layers of gum, one on top of the other. Denatured alcohol might work and might cost less, but didn't try that.
