Frame vin

I recently purchased a 1951 F1, I'm having difficulty reading the vin on the frame, I see it but parts of it are very hard to read, I know its correct because the part I can read matchs the glove box plate,

The title is wrong, I'm in the process of getting that corrected

Any help to make it easier to read, I've been using a steel brush.....

Hello, try using a thin piece of paper and a pencil laid nearly flat and you should be able to highlight the characters.

The use of a wire brush was perhaps the worst choice you could have made to reveal the serial number. You’re not dealing with tool steel, iron is soft and vulnerable to all abrasives.

I use white chaulk, then wipe off frame. Chaulk stays in numbers-had to teach the DMV this trick. Newc

Sometimes useful to hold a light at a very low angle to cast a shadow across the digits. Also use the camera in your phone to video the area from all angles and use macro mode. Then watch it on a computer screen to identify the digits. Mart.
