'50 Ford Coupe Trunk Hinge Pads Last year I replaced the trunk hinge pads with new ones from Dennis Carpenter. The new ones already look worse than the old ones-cracked and appear to have shrunken. I also replaced the seal that goes on the lip of the body under the trunk lid. It has also shrunk-almost 6" and is no longer usable. Car is always stored inside. What gives here? China junk or????

Re: '50 Ford Coupe Trunk Hinge Pads Great. I just opened a package I got from "Shoebox Central" today containing door lock pads, door handle pads, and window crank or door handle escutcheons today. Both sets of pads are from Carpenter. The lock pads (which I really need) are made in the USA. The door handle pads (which I can get along without) are made in China. Maybe I got lucky.

The ones I got were very oily. I shot off an email to Carpenter so will see what they have to say. I also could use rear quarter window seals but at $120 I am afraid to get them. Maybe we need to get a sheet of 1/8" USA made rubber and make our own pads at least. Pretty disgusting!! |
Re: '50 Ford Coupe Trunk Hinge Pads Received a nice email from DC saying they were sorry but their rubber stuff is made in the US. Maybe it is but is the rubber?? My stuff was still junk!

Re: '50 Ford Coupe Trunk Hinge Pads I need to issue an apology to Dennis Carpenter. The pads and seal was from another vendor but they WERE sourced from DC from that other vendor. Regardless they still failed to make it for one year!!
