Where to purchase King-brand main bearings & Best big bore engine gasket set?
 

Hi All:

Trying to source two items:

King-brand main bearings for 59AB and Best gasket set for big bore.

I thought Speedway had both of these, but it looks like the bearings are actually made by Egge, not King. Still waiting for confirmation from them.

The gasket kit is their brand, not Best.

Would like to purchase from same source, if possible, to cut down on shipping.

You might check with Red's Headers. That's where I got the Best gasket set and bearings for my 8ba. I believe the bearings were King but I'm not positive.

the last bearings I bought from Vanpelt were king bearings.

Check with machine shops in your area they should have access to king.

On the King Bearings - just make sure that you check very closely with a 3 point dial bore gauge your final clearances. I've had some that were a bit tight - so I bought two sets and picked the best ones. The Speedway gasket set is a mess - many gaskets are the wrong thickness and the quality of them is poor. I wrote up an article for them a few years ago - telling them about just some of their issues. I use BEST gaskets whenever possible (for most things). I put a set of expensive Cometic MLS head gaskets on my 32 CAB - just for the heck of it. I have not pulled the heads since - so maybe that is a good thing! LOL

At our machine shop we mostly get rings and bearings from Mahle.
