When installing the rear axle... Is it necessary to have the rear wish bones attached first? I'm about to install the rear but it won't have the brakes on at the moment because I need to lap the axle tapers.

Re: When installing the rear axle... No it's not necessarily but easier if you wish to deal with the forward attaching bolt. You. An install the radius rods with the long forward backing plate bolts and put the brakes in later

I've found that it is easier not to. |

Re: When installing the rear axle... It seems to me that if there are 2 ways to do a job, someone on this forum will come up with a third!

Re: When installing the rear axle... I would rather install with the backing plates, brake, drums and radius rods in place. It is a hell of lot easier to install the parking brake springs with the axle out from under the car. Does that count as a 3rd way?
