Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? I think I saw them in Snyder's catalog I was flipping thru last night. FWIW

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? Even if the replacement lenses aren't available, how would LED globes go in the standard light?

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? Yes there are LEDs for the drum style rear lights. There shaped to fit the light in two halves, one on top and one on bottom and they set in and are supported by soft sponge. They are big improvement...good luck dutie

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? 1 Attachment(s)
I switched over to these (I've got 6V, all red) and couldn't be happier - VERY bright compared to bulbs, and they draw much less current as well.
Here's the post I made when I switched over - it has "before" and "after" pictures which help show off the brightness difference. |
Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? If you have changed over to 12v just go to Walmart and pickup a 2pk of led bulbs. $14.95
I've done this to my vw and camper. |
Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? Thanks SDJason but yours aren't the drum style tail light. I installed led lights like yours in my 1930 and love them (all red ones)

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? Dutie. Where can I buy them???

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? Brattons I have them in mine no alterations just plug in

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? I have them in my ’29, and they are much better than regular incandesent bulbs. My car is 12 volt, but even with 6 volt there has to be a big difference. They just twist in like the other bulbs. I would think that NAPA would carry them. I have no idea about how long they last. Maybe forever, but I highly doubt that.

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? We have them. $7.50 each. Part # A-13465-L. They work in any tail light or brake light socket. Very bright.

Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? Hello 1930, they came from Brattons. Did not know for sure how they were going to look as my top half drum glass is amber but somehow they show up nice and red, the whole light. Nice and bright and low voltage, can barely see the amp meter move when brake light is on. Good luck Dutie :)

This is what I use on my '28 Leatherback and they work great! I was especially happy to get them since I just have the one tail light. |
Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? Or get them here (even though it says they won't work on a drum style tail light, they are the same ones that Bratton's sells which do work on a drum):
https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/led-lamp-kits Use some of the bubble wrap with the very small diameter bubbles wadded up and inserted behind the green printed circuit boards to hold the LEDs up tight to the back side of the lens and they work great! |
Re: LED lights for drum type rear lights? The lens replacement hasn't been done yet. I spoke to United Pacific and they don't see enough need to make up that lens.
