Re: fun day with un expected bonus interesting radiator or is that a cover? I like how the stainless and the wheels standout against the patina.

Re: fun day with un expected bonus I bought a radiator at the swap meet at the Dearborn MARC meet last week that’s “HoneyComb” like that. The guy said it was a 28. I like the look.

Re: fun day with un expected bonus Quote:
It may be the right fit for a 28, but Model A's never came new with honeycomb radiators. |

Re: fun day with un expected bonus rodding out cleaning the tubes at the rad shop pushing rods through the tubes cant do that on honeycomb
|
Re: fun day with un expected bonus Quote:
A rod will not pass from one end to the other because of the zig-zag, and the strip construction is prone to leak either in freezing - or simply "solder corrosion" of the joint which all 60-40 solders are prone to. I have had my honeycomb boiled out, created a few leaks in doing so, repaired the leaks, only to find a few more until it got set aside. Everything has a life - the honeycomb deserved a rest. I will give it credit though - even before boiling, the car never boiled over. Joe K |
Re: fun day with un expected bonus My original radiator is not a honeycomb, but does have a few leaks and i bet it could use a good rodding. So for now the honeycomb will do the job, until I can repair and rod out the original.
So while we have hijacked this thread is rodding just removing the tanks and running a rod through the tubes(like a gun barrel cleaning rod?) then replacing the tanks. |
