Identifying a model A frame

I know it's here, but I can't seem to find it. How can I tell a 28/29 frame from a30/31 frame? ...from the bare frame alone.

Thanks!

Check the serial number on the frame first, if there is one.

Look at the front crossmember. The radiator supports are different. 30 31's are lower.28 29's are even with the frame rail.

Re: Identifying a model A frame

28/29 frames are drilled both sides for RHD and LHD for the steering box.30/31 frames are mostly drilled on one side depending whether the vehicle was built RHD or LHD .However there are 30/31 frames that are drilled both sides there is one under my P/U which also has the early handbrake cross shaft . This early 30/31 frame is in the minority and does come with the correct "low dip" rad mount area . If you see a frame which at first glance has only one steering box hole it is definately 30/31.
