Re: Air Vent left of Steering Column ?? It ends up connected to a flapper valve on the fresh air duct in the engine compartment. It routed through the rubber biscuit that holds the wires that go through the firewall.

Re: Air Vent left of Steering Column ?? Paul's correct. It's a bit hidden behind the battery, and under the lip of the hood, so it's not obvious till you look. There's a bracket behind the battery that holds the end of the jacket, the flapper is 4-5" in front of it on my 55

Re: Air Vent left of Steering Column ?? When you locate the air duct (under the fender) where the bellcrank is for the damper, there should be a bracket sticking up on that duct which has a little hold down clip, held on to the bracket with a typical hex head lag-screw like they used on all the other heater sheet metal parts. If the little clip and screw are missing, let me know bu PM, and I will look in the garage, I think I have several of those with the screws.

Re: Air Vent left of Steering Column ?? I'm no T-bird expert but I thought the fresh air was the doors on the fender exterior on a '56. Is there a fresh air duct from the front as on a sedan?

Re: Air Vent left of Steering Column ?? IIRC, the side vent behind the wheel has a grill in the kick panel, and a separate knob. The dash knob runs the front vent (like my 55) similar to the passenger car. Been a long time.

The ductwork goes up over the front tires and comes out above each kick-panel on a '55, '56 & '57 T-Bird. They are just above the fender vent chrome grilles in the kick-panels of a '56/'57 T-Bird. The fresh air vent cables & knobs on the dashboard control the on/off flapper valves. One is just outboard of the battery, the other is outboard of and slightly behind the heater fan motor.
