1933 Ford foot starter
 

Could someone tell me how the foot starter button attaches to the car? I have a '33 Ford sedan I'm putting together with a 59AB engine and a '50 Ford pickup transmission. Photo's would be nice...thanks

If you are using the original switch.That starter switch bolts to 2 lower bolts on the steering box ,then the rod that goes thru the floor threads into it.

o.k.thanks...I thought it went over by the accelerator pedal and could not figure it out...appreciate that

Something to think about - depending on how "original looking" you want it to look like - is to add a modern Ford starter solenoid (12V, think 60's mustang) to handle the actual starter load and use the above starter switch to activate the solenoid. I've found this tends to make the stock starter type switch last a lot longer as it only has to activate the solenoid.

Obviously your main battery/starter cables have to be setup/routed differently (to go to the solenoid instead of the starter switch above). Just something to ponder if you're wiring the car from scratch . . .

Nothing wrong with the original foot starter switch provided it is wired up with the correct heavy gauge battery cables. No need for a solenoid. It acts as a good anti theft device because no modern car thief would know how to start it. Regards, Kevin.

also useing 12 v puts a smaller amp draw on the sw. a good sw should last foever

A good working e-brake is handy since your left foot will be running the starter and your right foot on the gas!
