Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw 6 Attachment(s)
Need some help figuring what year model T carburetors I have here. I dug these out of my storage box last evening and would like to see if some can share some info on these. I looked on the net and couldn't find much on the model SC and this brass 3 screw with the aluminum intake manifold. The SC has a really long intake, could it be for a car? The 3 screw I find little info and could be a rare carburetor?

Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw The first one is early Chevrolet. The rest I think are a Metz intake and carb. Metz used some parts that were very close to Model T. The Holley carb that Ford used had the fuel inlet on the bowl not as part of the body casting. That intake while similar, is just different. Google Metz

Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw The 3 screw looks similar to 1912 Holley H-1 - according to the Model T Encyclopedia - 1911 was a 2 screw then changed to a 3 screw in '12 with or without the hot air pipe clamp.

Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw I am retracting this information as shown in other post by tmodelman and gz below. It is a 1912 Ford Model T carb and intake.
The era would be in the ball park. But none of the Ford Holley carbs came with that style fuel inlet. They ether had it as part of the bowl or were like the later ones, with the normal elbow in that location. By the way the Metz intake will work on a Model T, that is how close they were. |
Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw Thank you for the heads up. Never thought it would have been a chevy and Metz carb. Im not a chevy guy, would you think the chevy carb would be early 20's?

Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw Red, thank you for the chevy date. was told thru AACA that the holley 3 screw is from a 1912 T and not a Metz. Gentleman also mentioned Metz used Waltham that looked similar to the Holley. ?

Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw 1 Attachment(s)
Was told by owner this is carb and manifold that came on his 1914 Metz, but don't really know for sure, the owner only had the car for a couple of years.

Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw 1 Attachment(s)
I too believe this is a correct, Holley H-1 carburetor used on 1912 Model Ts. The H-1 used this type of a fuel inlet. These are hard to find carburetors, especially for someone correctly restoring a 1912 T. The L-shaped fuel inlet pipe is usually missing and is hard to find. Also, it is hard to find an original intake manifold that hasn't been drilled full of extra holes. This is certainly a valuable item.
Here is a photo of one on a Model T as well as a link to the Model T Ford Club of America's encyclopedia showing the carburetor. http://www.mtfca.com/encyclo/Hol12.htm |
Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw Appriciate that shared valuable information that will help the purist building a correct 12’ T.

Re: Model T Holley Carburetors Model SC and 3 screw I stand corrected. I sure got that one wrong re the Ford carburetor. Thank you for the correction. One out of two, well that's still 50%! :) I also went out and looked at the 1912 I have that I need to do some work on.
