Mystery Ford Commercial Gray color paint!

Hi guys! Well, after search and search and found nothing in the web about this color!! Only I can say It's would be the Ford more estranged color on the Earth!! Some said looks like a dark green? Like Commercial Drab but no equal!
I spend two hours on Google images and look thought Ford barn!!!
Certainly I like Rock moss green and Gunmetal Blue, but I look for a lighter color this time!!
I know there are some threads talking about this color, but only have ? and no answers!! Some Delivery sedan that would be a Commercial Gray color!!
Anyone can figure what the color looks like?

Yes, maybe a Ford code! Not a paint formula!

If it is a ford color from Argentina we may not have the formula in the states. Is there a way you can get it color matched? That may be the only way to get the same color.

I think there are the same colors! Recently I ask for the color in a November 28 phaeton and the color is Niagara blue!Attachment 282034

I found a Green color under dash in my 29 open cab pickup gas tank!!

In another 28 phaeton door I found a Green color too!!

And in another 29 phaeton I found a light green color! Attachment 282037

COMMERCIAL*PAINT COLORS

Question: I am a new MAFCA member and am restoring a 1928 closed cab pickup. I am considering two original paint colors for my truck: commercial gray and gunmetal blue. The paint guide does not include an example chip of commercial gray, but does have one of commercial drab. Are these the same color with two different names? Secondly, I am having little success finding photo examples of vehicles in these specific colors to help me make my final decision. Can you provide me with a few images?

Answer:
I needed some help on this question, so I went to one of the editors of the book: "Model A Ford Paint & Finish Guide", Doug Clayton, and this is his answer to your question:

I have never been able to find an actual sample of Commercial Gray in 25 years of looking. Commercial Gray and Commercial Drab are two different colors and there is no way to determine if there was much difference between the two colors. Gunmetal Blue replaced Commercial Gray in August 1928. I suspect that the Commercial Gray color was fairly dark like the Gunmetal Blue and therefore much darker that Commercial Drab. The era black and white photographs are not any help in solving this mystery either. In fact all trucks were painted dark colors until after mid 1930 when Ford’s sales efforts focused on more attractive colors. For a 1928 truck, the Gunmetal Blue is the safest bet. Wish I could be of greater assistance on this one!

Here is another thread regarding Gunmetal Blue and the Commercial colors....
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21423 near the end the thread picks up with Commercial Drab that was recently painted on a Roadster Pickup. This is as close as I have seen to the color chip, although I have not see it in person as yet. Waiting to hear back from OP on getting a picture or two...

Re: Mystery Ford Commercial Gray color paint!

Sure Mike. Post what I sent you. If that helps the conversation...wonderful. I can take some more shots now that the PU is running an almost complete except for the upholstery. I start that Monday AM. I found and purchased an original roadster top and I am renovating it now. I think the color is a great match for the color chip in the Paint & Finish Guide as Commercial Drab. I had it "camera shot" by two different stores and they both produced the same formula. I had several painters look at the color guide chip and they came up with the same match. It is called Green Gray as I told you before. I think I gave you the paint manufacturer, paint code and store here in Sacramento right? It is NOT the same as Commercial Gray. Ford discontinued Commercial Gray by then. I painted the truck and I think I did a decent job for a rookie. One can always do better I suppose or you can pay a paint shop $10K if you have it. I loved driving it today. What a thrill. It was a hoot seeing the truck back on the road after decades in pieces in a guy's garage. You all know that feeling!! Take care and keep in touch buddy. Come on bye someday if you are ever in Sacramento. Scott

I think it's a lot like battleship gray. Maybe with a slight green tinge. I mixed it myself and I like it in my deluxe delivery cargo area.

Just asking, does the owner have to prove the color is correct of does the judge have to prove it is wrong?
