Door striker screw thread? Hi,
Are the screws that hold the striker to the door post and the ones that hold the mid post dovetails 1/4 course thread? Mine are not in the best condition and want to make sure on the thread before I chase it with a tap. Thanks |
Re: Door striker screw thread? what body do you have. some are 1/4-20 and some are wood screws.

Re: Door striker screw thread? Good quality tap & die sets generally have a thread gauge that can be compared for thread per inch. I believe a person can purchase them separately.

Re: Door striker screw thread? I think Henry liked and used NF more than NC..

Re: Door striker screw thread? Just a minute! Henry used a seldom used thread size in the model A. It is the 12-24. A little bit smaller and the pitch is a little bit finer than a 1/4-20. But they appear very similar when seen casually. They are not interchangeable. 12-24 used to be fairly common but now they're almost obsolete.

Re: Door striker screw thread? It is a 29 coupe. I was afraid that it would be a special thread. I guess 1/4 20 I bought today is not going to work. Is the repro hardware the correct thread?

Re: Door striker screw thread? You don’t want to use a reg tap anyway. You want a cleaning tap, or make one by cutting 4 slots lenghtwise. I bought a set of clean out taps and dies on amazon, and they are great.

Re: Door striker screw thread? Even cheap tap & die sets have a thread guage!
