1931 Cabriolet Slant Windshield Painting

I am getting ready to paint the cowl on a car that will be painted Kewanne Green and Elkpointe Green. What color does the gas tank welting get, the lighter lower color (Kewanne) or the darker green (Elkpointe) that will be sprayed on the trim piece under the windshield? Thank you, Ed

The welting was sprayed after installation of the tank.

Thank you for the reply but that is not what I am asking. The tank is installed and the welting provides the separation between the two colors. The Paint Guidlines manual does not specify the color on the welting? Does anyone know what is correct? Ed

From the Paint and Finish Guide, page 6:

"On 1930-31 bodies, the trim color at the belt moulding as well as the upper body color on closed models, stopped at the edge of the body and door. Closed cars in 1930-31 were found with the belt rail under the windshield painted either body or trim color. With either color scheme, the gas tank welting was usually body color."

You really need to read this entire section of the Paint and Finish Guide carefully, as it contains detailed information on the separation of the colors, and exceptions that apply to the Cabriolet. I have to look at the illustrations to try and understand the text.
