Re: zenith 2 carburetor The designations Zenith 1, Zenith 2 & Zenith 3 indicate the company that made the carburetor. Zenith 1 is Zenith, Zenith 2 is Holley and Zenith 3 is Ford.
Carburetors with no designation can be Zenith or Holley. It is common for no designation Holley carburetors to have an "H" in the castings. The OEM carburetor on your 1930 car could have been a Zenith 2. |
Re: zenith 2 carburetor Hello Bob, since we are on the subject of carburetors, I have seen your comments about the secondary well and how it may be restricting flow from the Compensator Jet. I have been rebuilding carbs for my club and would like to know what the symptom would be if there is a problem? I have a bunch of Secondary Wells and they all appear to be the same. The other day I took an awl and in going through the open Compensator Jet, I scratched the side of the well. I was amazed at how high up the scratch is and it is in the large diameter section of the well. I believe you are correct that it is possible to have a restriction through the Compensator Jet. I was thinking of grinding a slot down the side of the Secondary Well to the entrance hole at the bottom. Does this sound like a good idea? Sorry to be so windy, Ed

Re: zenith 2 carburetor I had a restored Zenith-3 on my Tudor. I went to a MAFCA National meet, and someone stole it off my car in the parking lot, and replaced it! with an unrestored Z-2. I couldn’t figure out why my car was running so rough until I opened the hood. >:-(

Re: zenith 2 carburetor Ed, you are correct. There are several different secondary well designs. The later wells, I believe, are relieved.

Re: zenith 2 carburetor I have seen 2 or 3 carbs where someone took a Zenith 2 used a Dremel to make it look like a Zenith 3
and passed it off on Ebay as a Zenith 3. |
