1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping I am getting close to finally finishing the 29 Model A Tudor that I have been working on (had to stop working on it for a number of years due to health issues)
Anyway, I need to find the correct paint for the pin striping. Book says the name is Straw Anyone out there have a formula or a place that can supply ready made paint?? |

Here is the code for PPG concept, which will work well for striping if not reduced, but only activated.

Re: 1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping Better yet, have Jim Brand stripe it for you. There is none better in the business of striping.

Re: 1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping I try to help and people are still not happy.

Re: 1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping How to contact Jim Brand?

Re: 1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping I bought TopCoat signmakers paint from Eastwood , (1) yellow and (1) white, small cans and mixed in the white until I matched the MARC color chip. As for the actual striping I used Finesse stenciling tape in the 3/32 width.

Does anyone have some pictures of the striping on a 29 Tudor--especially the end at the door hinge and the reveal that goes up to the top area at the rear side window (see pix below--I don't know where I found this picture & I don't even know if this is correct)
I am also interested in seeing how the reveal color stops at the door jam and at the seam between the side panel and the rear panel. Does the center door hinge get painted the reveal color? |
Re: 1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping I took my spare tire in and had a batch made up.
Came out good, but strip job not so much Not a point car just a fun car |
Re: 1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping Jim is from New York but at times he lines up several jobs and takes a road trip. He also attends every MARC meet. Don't know about his attendance at MAFCA meets.
Jim not only does a fantastic job on pin striping but he also does touch up, monograms, etc. To tell you the truth, a beautiful paint job looks fine but when the correct striping is done the car looks 10X better. Amazing what a little paint in the "right places" does for the look. |
Re: 1929 Tudor Straw paint for pin striping Yep most important to have a nice pinstripe, then the metal valve stems for the final 2 things that really set the car off.
