This is one great parts chaser, dump runner and dragster pusher. Something my family knows as Pete. |
Re: An Early Ford Truck Post... Let's see them. Wow great trucks. In the 80's dad and I saved a old 46 Ford panel truck from an ol wrecking yard. We totally rebuilt the engine from a shop manual. She ran great with that v-8 flathead. We painted it up royal blue. It had the spare tire that mounted in the passenger side of the body. It was one of those great fun projects, then after she was done we missed working on her (that was alot of the fun) We ended up trading it for a newer pick-up. I sure wish I could track her down now. We lived in Tulare Ca. at the time. She was all stock. I'm just hoping she's still out there (and that she's not been rodded) I'd like to know if anyone out there has seen her around.

Re: An Early Ford Truck Post... Let's see them. I saw her just last week down by San Diego stopped beside the freeway just after midnight. Looks like she's being used by a farmer to transport his field hands but I think they were lost, they had stopped a Border Patrol truck to ask directions and some of them had decided to run across country so they wouldn't be late for work. ..B.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...icture079b.jpg It's been sitting for about 40 years. I have taken the wooden top off for now, I want to restore it and put it back on but I kinda like the look without it too. |

Re: An Early Ford Truck Post... Let's see them. I really love this two tone paint job, usually just the fenders are painted a different color than the body on 48-52 pickups.

Re: An Early Ford Truck Post... Let's see them. Nice ute Ted. Was it always in NZ or is it a recent import?

Re: An Early Ford Truck Post... Let's see them. Ok, I'll weigh in here - here's my 41 as recently purchased:
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...40pickup01.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...linzi_2220.jpg It's a bit of a Mongrel, it has a 9" rear, the x-members been hached out, and it has no engine and box. It has a later bed whick I am busy narrowing back to the correct width. I am trying to find x-member parts here in the UK but it is proving difficult. I already have Early ford running gear in 3 cars, so I am thinking of retaining the 9" rear it already has, and setting it up with a 312 Y-block and SROD overdrive box I have been saving for just such a project. Outwardly it will end up looking pretty stock, except for 15" wheels and radials. Mart. |
