Throttle linkage

The left side ball where it connects to the linkage from the steering column is worn.on my 31 tutor The linkage pops off I once in awhile. I’m going to replace the linkage and I haven’t removed it floor boards yet. Is there anything I should know,do or look for. It seems pretty much straight forward.

It is pretty straight forward. Can be a pain to fish it out but not bad. Only thing I can think to add is that you don't want to lose the .010 shims that go between the flywheel housing and engine when you remove the throttle bracket.

I usually keep extra shims in case I lose or need one .

Re: Throttle linkage

At last count, there were like 6 different constructional variants of the throttle shaft linkage. Each one somehow "simplifying" the previous construction.

All "back fit" earlier cars.

You may be simply building up the ball with MIG or TIG. It is possible to remove the LH side "swivel/ball attachment" - at least for all but the late 1931 version (riveted). You might explore this as a repair modus and bring only that part to the work-bench?
