over heating
 

Hi guys , My model engine is over heating after about 10 min of run time at idle . My engine has a model B head , Ansen single down draft intake with a model 94 carb , Reds tube header , and a wico JEM magneto . I need help . It does have new pistons and rings . thanks

On my un-modified 1929 Tudor I have had problems over the years when the timing was off or I ran it to lean or the points were to close or I filled the radiator to full and somtimes all of the above. I'm assuming that you are an old timer with Model As so I'm sure I'm no help but maybe this will set some of the other guys to thinking. Good luck!

Check the timing first. If that's OK, then make sure the head gasket is OK and not blowing into the coolant. 10 minutes at idle is pretty quick to overheat, so it would most likely be one of these two. The next choice would be a really plugged radiator or block.

Never hurts to be sure you don;t have any grease deposits in the radiator from overzealous water pump greasing.. I cleaned the grease out of mine and it runs about 20-30 degrees cooler after flushing it with hot water and degreaser..
