Model A coupe serial number question Looked at a 1930 standard coupe today. Story is that it's supposed to be from Canada. Serial number is CAT22**. This seemed odd to me. All the 30-31 model A's I have had all started with just the letter A. I did not see the car in person just pictures of it however i had the title in my hands which is a Pennsylvania title issued in 1994.

Re: Model A coupe serial number question Delaware has pretty strict procedures at DMV, we purchased a '29 Coupe in MI (running and roadworthy), took the title to DMV and a Vehicle Theft/State Police had to verify engine and frame numbers matched, requiring body/frame inspection disassembly..

Re: Model A coupe serial number question Canadian built A's do not have the engine number stamped on the frame. Don't waste your time lifting the body looking forit.

Re: Model A coupe serial number question You should also have a body number, just in front of the seat riser that usually starts with 1F .......

Also . By what responses to my serial number question, the serial number on this Canadian built model a ford is only on the engine block? |
Re: Model A coupe serial number question The Canadian built Model A's did NOT have a Data Plates on the cowl from mid- 1928 (I think), although the four holes are there.
The MARC/MAFCA Judging and Restoration Standards have a section on the Canadian Built Model A - lots of unique differences between Canadian and US built Model A's The MARC/MAFCA Judging Standards group is working on updates to the Canadian Built Cars. This is being lead by Everett Hessel from Canada - Head Judge at the 2015 MARC meet in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Yes, the Robertson Screws and fasteners are unique to the Canadian built Model A's. There has been lots discussion on Canadian Built Model A's on Fordbarn. Also the only serial number is the one on the block |
Re: Model A coupe serial number question Well hopefully the auto theft inspection knows that the number is only on the engine block so I don't have to remove the front Fender to find nothing!
|
Re: Model A coupe serial number question If it had a number it wouldn't be under the fender, it would be under the body which means you have to lift the body and hope it's legible.

Re: Model A coupe serial number question The DMV/SP unit that is in Kent Co. was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time verifying our frame number. As stated in your earlier posts, you have already had the experience.. just have all your info for that vehicle available when they come to inspect, I'm sure they do their homework also.!
