Torque tube bearing old versus new?

Torque tube bearing old versus new?

I have a original bearing that looks very good. Would you use this one and not take the chance and just put a new one in?.

I would use the old bearing if it looks good like you indicated. Some new bearing aren't as good as the older bearings - especially foreign made bearing i.e. China. If the old bearing was lubed well, it should be fine.

I forgot to send the pic.

Is this indeed an original bearing?

It looks like it is an original bearing, but without having it in my hand, it is just an educated guess. I don't think new bearing have the spiral cut rollers on them. You need to make sure there is no galling on the rollers. Also make sure the roller pins are in decent condition. If so, I would use it. I have an original bearing like this and I plan to use it on my 29 phaeton as I assemble the drivetrain. I don't think these bearings tend to wear a lot as there is usually plenty of lubricant around them.
