Rust911 Use

I am going to try Rust911 for my cooling system based upon the many positive posting about its use on Fordbarn. If I understand correctly, the product reacts with and solubilizes the rust in the solution so there is no need for a filter. I would greatly prefer not to remove the hoses on my radiator so drainage would be through the petcock. Let me know if this method should work. Forgot to mention, after charging the 911 I will run the engine for a considerable period of time, get everything hot, and let set a couple days before draining.

Re: Rust911 Use

Recently I saw a post that someone had gotten flakes using Rust911. I've not tried Rust911, but have used thermocure. I did not see any flakes, but did see a very small amount of grit.

Recommended is to do a backflush using an adapter and garden hose on the radiator, which would require removal of at least the lower hose/pipe.

Additionally it is a good idea to run an upper hose coolant filter. Unless the radiator and block are squeaky clean, additional rust/scale can loosen with the danger of causing issues in your radiator. After your system runs clean for a while, then remove the upper hose coolantfilter if desired.

Probably most of the "stuff" you dissolve will NOT go thru the petcock.
Take the hoses off when you flush it.Backflush it also.
