Thanks for sharing, as that is NICE vehicle...if you have a job delivering mail to pay for it :) ! In the 'old days' , In my ute, I had a young couple living in the bachelor apt next door. He had one of these that was in pristine condition. It sat out in the parking lot and never got a glance its way...except from me ! Quite a story behind that old Ford !

The price $10,000,000,000 is to get your attention. I called him and had a good long discussion with him. If he were to sell it (he does not really want to sell it), the price would be in the $20,000 to $30,000 range.

The photos show an indented firewall making it a 1931, the engine number is AA1634102 (build date 5/25/1929) and it is titled as a 1929.

In all seriousness though, a very nice truck... I'd trade 3 of my sharks with dual laser beans attached to there heads for it in a second.

I checked into this as well. Napoleon used it in the Russian front and there is a bottle of cognac under the front seat.

If the price was to get attention he sure is getting it, or so it seems. Kinda like Miley Cyrus with that weird dance while dangling her tongue onto the ground. I think it is a beautiful truck that can sell itself.

There were only 3 procurements of postal trucks during model A years. The first in 29, the second two in 31. There was NO 1930 postal trucks no matter what some may think. Both 31 procurements used the indented firewall. The first 31 procurement is referred to as an early 31, and the second as late 31. Only a small portion of the first procurement were delivered to the Post Office Department in 31, the majority were delivered to them in 32 after the start of 32 production. Henry wanted to supply 32 chassis instead, but the bodies built by York Hoover (early 31) and mifflinburg (late) were already being produced to fit the A chassis. The P.O.D. MADE Henry supply what was contracted, 31 chassis' despite his defiant posture to not do so.

The P.O.D. did not de-commission these trucks until 1954. They were in constant service during this time. The consensus of the POD is that most of these trucks logged over 1 million miles each. In keeping these trucks on the road in constant service, they depleted lots of old stock ford parts, when no longer able to acquire old stock, they pillaged the junk yards for anything model a to keep them on the road, hence the use of 30 2 piece running boards and front fenders.

The POD garages stock piled rebuilt A engines, so when one was needed, they pulled the old and dropped in an already rebuilt engine. This minimized the down time significantly by doing this. It is very doubtfully if any mail truck has the original engine still in place.
