AV8 The simple way Now after building my AV8 for several years now, I find this article! All you need is a 1/2'' drive socket set and an engine hoist to do the job! I feel kind of dumb for taking so long, wish I had found this article sooner!

Re: AV8 The simple way I can't believe that someone can write such a load of drivel (nearly said something else).
Don't forget though, it it is on the internet it must be true. I think he's getting his model A's mixed up with 32s onwards. Mart. |
Re: AV8 The simple way Slightly off topic but on point as to bad advice or mechanics. Someone wrote into Magliozzi about using their emergency brake when they park. He cautioned against it because if there is rust it might not release. There was a bit more to the article but in Massachusetts where his shop is located the parking brake must be working properly to get an inspection sticker. That rubbish is worse than what is written above. At least the kid can say he's seen so many V8s in Model As that it looks like they bolt right in.

Re: AV8 The simple way I don't think so! what about the wishbone, what about rear engine mounts, firewall clearance and so on. Just another way to butcher good cars.

Re: AV8 The simple way Most of the Old AV8 cars were not built on a set of instructions anyway. They went directions that were suggested by either their buddies or some hot rodding publication that might have been available to them at the time but in the end it was the individuals that did it the way they wanted. Most folks like to change things for there own taste anyway. Replacing a smaller motor for one with more easy power was and still is a given. More Power & More Speed have always been the reasons. Doing something on your own has always had an appeal to most folks. No matter how long it takes.
