Ford-script head question 6 Attachment(s)
I cleaned up a head to check for condition the other day and realized I was looking at a Ford-script head with a part number. I don't think this is a Ford product, but I hope I'm wrong. Could a few of you fellow "Barners" tell me what I have here and what it might be worth before I spend any money on it? I see no cracks, looks good under a straight edge, and all the threads are good. Thanks in advance.

I have a december 28th 1936 service head.To my untrained eye it is a superior casting than the rouge made production head,it appears thicker and the machine work is cleaner. Its going on the next stock build I do.. |
Re: Ford-script head question I have a NOS Ford script head I bought last year on Ebay and put on my engine. I was the only bidder, guess everyone wants a high compression head. I never thought about the Ford script at the time being later production but if those are the date numbers I may check mine tomorrow bet they wo't be as easy to see now as your picture shows.

Re: Ford-script head question Even though Ford didn't continue to produce all of the individual parts (many were farmed out to subcontractors), the model A & B engines were still being assembled at the Rouge as both replacement parts and for industrial engine production. This continued quite a while after the model A went out of production.
A good example was the Gleaner Baldwin NA and NR non PTO combines. http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/gleanerbaldwin.htm |
Re: Ford-script head question Gentlemen, thank you very much for the education/information on my cylinder head. I was unaware that Ford was still producing these into the late '30s. I am very grateful to have the Ford Barn at my fingertips for information.
