62 TBird Master Cylinder Swapping to disc brakes on the bird. Having issues with the MC that came in the kit - way too big. Was curious what other options there are out there for MCs that would work? Doesn’t need to me stock looking.

Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder What kit did you buy and what exactly is wrong?
|
Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder Don’t know the kit, adapter and hardware worked for the calipers, rotors were wrong, bearings were wrong.

Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder As Kultulz asked, we need more details - where'd you get it from, any info like did they have a part number or description of the kit, are you using the original Midland-Ross brake booster or something else, etc.? Pictures would be MOST helpful. Inquiring minds want to know...

Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder If it's that wrong, doesn't fit and has no useful information about it...
maybe you should return it for a refund, or just cancel payment. . |
Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder Maybe it has one of those scrubby CORVETTE ugly MC's and you want it to look FORD OEM?
You have to be careful on some of these kit sellers as they have no clue. Throw GM parts in a box and ship it. |

Can you show photos? |

My booster is good. Was curious if a Mustang, LTD MC would bolt to the stock booster. |

Here are some pics. Original booster with 68 Mustang (took it out of my car to test) MC. Other pics are the booster and MC that came in the box.

Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder No that’s the factory tbird booster

Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder What's wrong with the original booster? Are you adding rear disc brakes? Kultulz is right the kit master cyl is GM usually for 4 wheel disc brakes. The Mustang master cyl you show is for drums (rear) disc on the front. The larger rear section on the Mustang unit is for the front brakes, smaller is for the rear drums. What's wrong with using the original booster and the Mustang MC you have?
|
Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder Ok so I think there’s some confusion going on here, most likely due to my description of the issue. We were just fitting up that MC from the Mustang to see if it would work. It wasn’t already mounted on the car. Original booster works fine.

Re: 62 TBird Master Cylinder Can you give me the depth of the original booster?
