I bought a 28 roadster this year. Shortly afterwards I was looking at some old photos of my grandfathers and came across these. They are from around 1930, most likely taken in and around Princess Anne, MD. I don't think this was his car, although he probably took the photos.

Re: Vintage photos

There is an aftermarket horn that you can see. My first Model A had two of these. The car was not that old at the time, so maybe some young folks were doing their thing way back then. I also like the lightning bolt on the radiator.

It likely went the way of most of the cars back then, but it would be difficult to know. Too bad that we can't look up the tag number, cross reference to an owner and serial number and see if it is still around. That is all possible if the data is out there, but what state would go through the trouble and expense to convert all that data? It's been done with land records, but that is a different kettle of fish.

And those aren't directionals on the fenders, those are ford accessory fender lights, I know of a few cars around me with them, very neat, the lenses are shrunken versions of the headlight lenses, fluted for 28 and the same pattern as the later twolite in 29. The horn may be a motovox, or similar later beep style horn if I'm correct, very cool to see a period photo with someone spending some extra money on Ford and off-brand accessories.

I think it was Motovox, now that you mention it. I wish that I had kept the two from my old coupe. I don't remember what happened to them.

I've looked for them just out of curiousity and this is the only one I've come across lately

Re: Vintage photos

I suspect that the accessory horn is NOT a MotoVox. They are a bit smaller than the one pictured in the photo. The size of the horn is of the larger Klaxton horn; which I would guess that this one is.

I have two MotoVox horns and one Klaxton, which why I know this. I have a starndard (Ford) Sparton horn in it's proper location, and a MotoVox mounted under the passenger's headlite.

Interesting discussion I have started. It's fun to see what people have to say.

My two did not look like the ones posted on Ebay. I agree with Doug on closer examination, the one on this car appears larger than the ones I had. I wonder if people were looking for a horn with a different sound than the Ahooga?
