How do you fix the modern drive while on tour? Carry a spare?

In my case, no. I carry a crank handle.

I've been doing this for over 40 years and I still feel dumb sometimes.

Nothing to break on them. I had one come apart. The snap ring came loose and the pieces separated. I took the started off the engine, pushed it all back together and put snap ring back on the barrel. That was about 15000 miles ago.

I have shattered the fine helix in 2 or 3 of the ones marked made in India. Since the Welldone (spelling?) Branded ones with a USA sticker came into Snyder's instead of the Indian ones I have had no more breakage in our 2 cars.
A Friend shattered his Indian one on the first start up after fitting it.posted pictures of my broken ones several years ago on Fordb.
