Re: Chrome plating There are plenty of excellent chrome platers out there. I would recommend http://customchromeplating.com/ If you do a Fordbarn search you will find many other recommendations. The original chrome plating from back in the day was done using the hexavalent chrome plating process. It gives the chrome a beautiful blue tint that is almost unnoticeable. Because of the EPA, many platers have switched to the hexavalent chrome plating process. It still results in gerogeous 'show chrome" but with a slightly different tint. If this matters to you, ask your plater which process he uses. Also do a Google search of hexavalent and trivalent chrome plating to learn about each. Then talk to your plater. And, if possible, actually take a road trip to the plater to check it out and to be sure he isn't just sending your parts somewhere else to be plated. Also, be aware that there is no such thing a Show quality, low priced chrome plating. DO NOT USE BUMPER BOYZ OR BUMPER BUMPER BOYS - EVEN IF IT'S FREE. I have also used Paul's Chrome Plating in PA. with great success. Good luck.

Re: Chrome plating Preperation is the most important part of plating, if done properly almost any plating will look good. I have found, All Polishing & Plating, Phillip Elefter in Canton Oh to be economical and fast turn around. 330 456 5400

Re: Chrome plating I have always sandblasted the back side of bumpers and guards or anything that might have a heavy coating of rust. I have seen some company's not remove this rust and plate over it. The next thing you know the rust is creeping around the edge onto the visible surface or the crusty rust is staring to peel off.

Re: Chrome plating 19Ford-you touched on the chrome issue-hexavalent vs trivalent chrome. Trivalent is the bad actor and I am not sure anyone is still using trivalent. Many, even within the epa, do not understan the difference between the two and lump all chrome into the bad actor, trivalent, camp.
