1937 Ford coupe. Bill of sale
 

I have just come across a 1954 bill of sale for a 1937 Ford coupe that was sold in New Hampshire.
It is typed out with the price of the car, and payment plan.
It has the owner and seller's names, and most importantly the engine number.
If the car is still out there and owned by a collector I would love to donate this to him/her as part of the car's heritage.
Here are the last 4 digits of the engine number. -1564
If anyone has those last 4 digits let me know and send me the other 5 in front of them. If someone sends me a match I will mail the bill of sale to you.
Here's hoping this car is still out there.

But it goes to the life history of the car. If we found service records for the third set of tires @ $12 per tire we would be downright giddy over having them.

I have a 1937 coupe also, but like most raffles my numbers don't match. My serial number ends with 4138.

I've always been a history buff and if I had that car, I would want the Bill of Sale that's part of it's history.

Bought a '36 Cab.Convertible in 1951 for $125 and would be amazed if the '37 sold for more. (wish I still had the '36 )

Thanks for the comments. Most of you realize it's about getting the information back to the current owner of the car so it will be with it for future owners.
BTW the car sold in 1954 for $250. with $30. down and $50. monthly payments. Hand written on the back are notations of the dates when payments were made until it was paid in full and signed by the seller.
Interesting enough 48 years ago I lived in the town where it was sold.
I should probably get this listed in the V8 Times where I might reach more '37 owners.
Hope someone has the winning "lottery" numbers.

Your post refer to engine number, you may already know this, but early Fords do not have engine numbers, as in a number on the engine itself. The serial numbers were assigned to the transmissions. Then later in the assembly process the transmission is mated with an engine assembly. At a still later date in time the engine/transmission assemble is installed in a frame and the transmission number is added to the frame. As most flathead engines have been rebuilt at least once and often as an exchange, it is difficult to know what engine is in a current vehicle versus what was in it when it left the factory. Transmission also can be changed out over the years, so the frame number is what is going to be a match. Or a transmission might still exist with the number, but no why to tie it to an engine that I am aware of. To my mind, the frame number would be most closely associated with the original vehicle and a bill of sale.

All good comments. Re asking for first part of engine numbers I hear you that it may sound strange and if there is another way of finding that long shot, let me know. Bill of sale says "engine #-----1564 and motor number the same". That's why I listed it as motor number.
I have not motive other than to offer this bill of sale to the owner.
Thanks for the info related to engine number, trans number, etc. My knowledge lies in Model As which all use engine number for the identity of the car and it should match the frame number.
