Cleaning inside of speedometer glass

I'd like to clean the inside of the speedometer glass on my '29 Tudor. Does the stainless steel 'cover' slide forward and come off? If so, I suspect mine is fairly rusted to the housing, as it doesn't want to move under moderate pressure....

Thanks

I used a small flat blade screw driver and pried against the mounting tabs.

Set the speedometer face down with spacer wood blocks under each of the mounting ears on the case. Set the blocks so the bezel when pushed off does not hit the block. Use a piece of hard wood or aluminum as a drift and tap the drift moving around the bezel. Hope this is clear to the readers.

DON'T even THINK about putting new number decals on the odometer wheels, it's a RIOT to do!!!

Words of wisdom on having a professional do the job. Even at that the number "9" came loose on my odometer and had to use a glue to get it back on. It can be a disaster if a bunch of these started to peel. Stick on numbers have to have very sticky backing to hold up in use.

Hay I always place a little glue at the end of the 9 to keep the decal in place. But you have to clean the wheels off good before you can lay them out and place the decals.

So Papanick, the number 9 is where the roll of numbers Ends? No wonder it was peeling from there!

Yes just push the decal back down and place a little super glue on the center of the wheel and wipe off. this will hold the decals in place. Just a dap will do it.
