Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead I do LIKE the lifting straps and the bar!
|
Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead Thanks, I like it as it does not damage as a chain might. I purchased from Jerry Bickel Race Cars Inc for $139 +shipping.

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead What are you planning to put it in?
|
Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead It is going in a 1938 ford pickup. The truck is just getting started with a long way to go. Working on a engine run stand now to put this on so I can run it every couple of weeks until truck is completed.

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead That's beautiful. Love black coloured blocks with aluminum heads and intakes.

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead I often wonder what scale people use to choose the parts they use in their engines. For example why did you choose the Offenhauser pistons and Isky 88 cam for this build. As expensive as it is, these decisions have a big effect on the applicationof the engine.

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead Delightful !

I discussed what I wanted with the engine builder and he speced out the parts. I relied on his years of experience building flatheads. |
Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead Well I for one think the Isky 88 cam is great!!

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead .
Man, your engine is gorgeous. I also like the black. It appears to be an 8BA-type ('49-'53). If so, how is it going to breathe (relieve crankcase pressure) without the original road draft tube? Has it possibly been built with a PCV valve incorporated somehow? If that black piece at the rear of manifold is a vent, you must be planning on an electric fuel pump....? Welcome to FordBarn! DD |
Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead Engine looks great !
Beautiful job,,,,,hope it runs for a 100,000 miles . Tommy |

Correct, it is a breather and I will be running an electric pump with a regulator. |
Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead Is that the oil filter at the rear of the driver side block?
|
Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead Ol' Ron: Elaborate on your above statement please.
|
Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead 2 Attachment(s)
Yes, the block was modified to pass the oil out through a filter and then back in. this will be mounted elsewhere once installed in the truck. It was just there to transport.
