I do LIKE the lifting straps and the bar!

Thanks, I like it as it does not damage as a chain might. I purchased from Jerry Bickel Race Cars Inc for $139 +shipping.

What are you planning to put it in?

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead

It is going in a 1938 ford pickup. The truck is just getting started with a long way to go. Working on a engine run stand now to put this on so I can run it every couple of weeks until truck is completed.

Unless you are going to run it under a load you may be doing more harm than good. Search this forum for more info.

That's beautiful. Love black coloured blocks with aluminum heads and intakes.

I often wonder what scale people use to choose the parts they use in their engines. For example why did you choose the Offenhauser pistons and Isky 88 cam for this build. As expensive as it is, these decisions have a big effect on the applicationof the engine.

I discussed what I wanted with the engine builder and he speced out the parts. I relied on his years of experience building flatheads.

.

Man, your engine is gorgeous. I also like the black. It appears to be an 8BA-type ('49-'53). If so, how is it going to breathe (relieve crankcase pressure) without the original road draft tube? Has it possibly been built with a PCV valve incorporated somehow? If that black piece at the rear of manifold is a vent, you must be planning on an electric fuel pump....? Welcome to FordBarn! DD

Correct, it is a breather and I will be running an electric pump with a regulator.

Is that the oil filter at the rear of the driver side block?

Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead

Ol' Ron: Elaborate on your above statement please.

Yes, the block was modified to pass the oil out through a filter and then back in. this will be mounted elsewhere once installed in the truck. It was just there to transport.
