Driving without a speedometer I was hoping to take the car out for a drive over the weekend but I have my speedometer sent out for rebuilding. Should I remove the cable from the box? If so should the hole be exposed?

If by "box" you mean where the cable connects to the driveline, you should leave that connected so nothing leaks out the hole. It won't hurt for the inner cable to just spin. |
Re: Driving without a speedometer Chris: With you speedometer removed, it's an opportunity to lube the cable with either graphite or light oil down the top end and let gravity do the rest. Like Bill says, just let the cable spin.
Glad to hear you have your roadster up and running!! Dress warm! |

Re: Driving without a speedometer When you take the speedometer out, be sure to secure the nut that holds the cable on to the speedometer. Otherwise the nut will fall back down the cable and it is a bi**h to retrieve it.
