1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...p;d=1612347366
1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps are different. Can anyone spot the difference between these two Hubcaps? I know that the Hubcap on the right is missing the red paint around the shield, but the difference is in the Stamping, not the paint. If you look at Ads on eBay for 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps, it appears that the majority of Sellers believe that they are the identical, but that is not true. In addition, there is a Hubcap Dealer in California that lists these Lincoln Hubcaps as 1954-1955, so obviously, he doesn't know that there are slight differences between the two. Clue - the difference in in the Shield. So, if you are the owner of a 1954 or 1955 Lincoln, has your car got the correct Hubcaps for the appropriate year? |

1954 Lincoln https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...;d=1612348899" 1955 Lincoln Here are close-up pictures of the Crests on the 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps. As mentioned in my original Post, please ignore the fact that the 1955 Lincoln Hubcap is missing the red paint in the centre. Did anyone pick the difference in my original Post? As you can see, they are subtle but different. If you own a 1954 or 1955 Lincoln, you should check to see that you have the correct year hubcaps fitted for your vehicle. |
Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps The knight's shoulders on the one with the red paint are different from the other one. Also his helmet is different and he is slightly smaller. That's all I see.

Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps Spacing between sections on either side of the star points is wider on the one with the red paint.
|
Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps I see different head (helmet) and shoulders besides smaller scale of shield.

Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps horizontal lines are diff. More of them in one then the other
|
Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps The first difference that comes into mind is the cross in the centre, On the 1954 Lincoln Hubcap, both the Horizontal and Vertical sections are divided. On the 1955 Lincoln Hubcap, the Vertical part of the cross is a single line. While the differences are slight, never the less, they are different. If you own one of these Lincolns, you need to check to see that you have the correct Hubcaps for your model.

1954 Lincoln Hubcap https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...p;d=1612264219 1955 Lincoln Hubcap There is a beautiful 1954 Lincoln 2 Door Hardtop that is presently for sale at the moment. When you look at the detailed photos of this car, you can see that it has a mixture of 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps. The above photos show that it has at least one is a 1955 Lincoln Hubcap. Sure, they are very close, but different at the same time. |

1954 Lincoln Hood Badge. For owners of 1954 Lincolns, make sure that the Crest on your Hubcaps match this Hood Badge. Notice that it has a definite Cross in the middle that is painted Red. The Crest on your Hubcaps should look like this. If it doesn't match, the Hubcap is not correct for 1954. |
Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...p;d=1612752907
This is the Badge that is on the Hood of the 1955 Lincoln. It stands alone, and is not part a large "V" ornament like on the 1954 Lincolns. If you look at it closely, you will see that the vertical bar or line is single, and not double like on the 1954 Lincolns. This single bar is one of the changes from the 1954 Lincoln badge, and these features also appear on the Hubcaps. So, the Crest on the Hubcaps for your 1954 or 1955 Lincoln must be similar to the Badges on the respective models. Two vertical bars or lines on the 1954 Lincoln and a single vertical bar or line on the 1955 Lincoln. |

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...p;d=1612753435 Here are two comparison pictures of the fronts of a 1954 and 1955 Lincoln. You can see on the 1954 Lincoln that the Badge is set in a "V" while on the 1955 Lincoln, the Badge is stand-alone. Don't forget, to be correct, that the Badge on the Hubcaps has to match the Badge on the actual car, because despite a lot of people saying that they are the same, they are indeed different for each year. |
Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps I like the front of the 54 better than the 55. Reminds me of the time I was talking with a VW salesman that sold me a new Bug in 69. I asked him what the difference was between two model year Bugs. He said it was a change in the color of the wiring for the optional cigarette lighter.:D

Re: 1954 and 1955 Lincoln Hubcaps I too like the '54 better.

1956-1957 Lincoln Capri Hubcap https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...p;d=1613783887 1956-1957 Lincoln Premiere Hubcap 49coupe, you asked for pictures of 1956 Lincoln Hubcaps? The 1956 and 1957 Hubcaps are the same for both years, however, there was one hubcap for the Capri, and a more up-market hubcap for the Premiere. The Capri hubcap is solid, and is very popular today for people wanting a hubcap on their old car with a smooth look, but with an added bullet or spinner bolted in the centre, as they are all steel. The more expensive Premiere hubcap has a plastic centre, and these days, they are very difficult to find in good condition. Because of the plastic centres in the Premiere hubcaps, they are unsuitable to have a spinner or similar bolted to them. The above pictures show the differences. I hope that this helps. |
