1955 Ford ranch Wagon Parking brake question?

I am trying to replace some missing parts in the parking brake system of my ranch wagon. I need the cable that goes from the equalizer rod to both rear wheels. I also need the equalizer rod. I found both at macs but looking at the pictures of both,I can't figure out how the cable would hook up to the rod.
If I'm not mistaken, the threaded part of the rod connects to the cable but I don't see how that can be. I know that this is asking too much but I was wondering if any of you could (whenever you can) look at the 2 parts and than tell me if they can be connected together.I don't want to order both and than find out that they will not work in my wagon. Here are the part #'s for both.
Cable- 49-27102-1
Equalizer Rod= 49-29668-1
Thank you very much for your help.

Do you have the equalizer yoke? Its a semicircular conduit for the cable. The cable passes through the yoke and attaches to the rear brakes. The yoke is attached to the rod with an adjusting nut and a lock nut.

The yoke looks something like this:

This photo isn't of a Wagon, but it may be similar.
The parking brake cable from under the dashboard ends in the threaded rod on the left. It attaches to the (twisted) flat bar that has another adjustment rod near the right end that attaches to the U shaped brake cable holder.

Thanks to all for your great help. So,looks like I am missing the part labeled 2A602 in the drawing. Thats what holds the cable. Now,if you look at the rod labeled 2628 how it hooks into the equalizer bracket and tru the equalizer bar and than the cotter pin,I don't see how the rod at macs would work here. The rod at macs does not have the hook facing down where it would go tru the bracket unless I am not seeing it correctly. What do you guys think? I hope I can find the 2A602 cable holder part.

Here's an example but I'm sure you can also find it new or used at other places.

Does anyone know if the part # 6L5Z-2A602-A is the same part as the 2A602-A like the one in the drawing above? Thanks for checking.

6L5Z 2A602-A is for a 2006 RANGER.

You will be looking for B8SZ 2A602-A NOS.

Looks like it might be easy to make one out of a piece electrical conduit.

Re: 1955 Ford ranch Wagon Parking brake question?

I hate to jump in here on this old post....but KULTULZ posted a nice detail of the under car parking brake system on this thread , and I have a question on part number 2153 , which is the bracket that the parking brake cable runs through just before it attaches to the swing lever that pulls on the rear cables. If you look at that KULTULZ diagram you will see it. My question is if that 2153 bracket is a separate piece that bolts to the frame OR is it a welded on piece that remains with the car frame.???
I also am restoring a 55 wagon and ran into this problem this week. For some reason that 2153 bracket is missing on my project. I just need to know how to go about finding one. Hopefully its a "bolt on " piece and not permanently welded to the frame.
Of course if anyone has a parts car and would want to sell me that piece I would really appreciate it. I can always make it work , bolt up or weld on.
Thanks for your time and reply.
Steve

If it helps...
I have two 'not a wagon' examples in the garage, a '55 and a '57.
Both of them have the (2153) cable mounting bracket riveted to the frame.

Re: 1955 Ford ranch Wagon Parking brake question?

dmsfrr....thanks for your reply. I was afraid of that. Anyway , I will have to try to chase down somebody with a parts car and see if I can get them to take the bracket off.
Not an easy job I am sure.
In the mean time , would you mind just taking a picture of that bracket and its location on the frame? That will at least give me an idea as to how it should be mounted and where. I may have to end up fabricating such a bracket and then I would have an idea as to where to weld it in place. If you have better luck than me posting pictures to this forum , please do. Otherwise , if you can send a text to me with the cell phone picture , my cell is 608-738-1861 and my email id is [email protected].
I really appreciate your help. No hurry , just do when you have time.
Thanks again,
Steve

Re: 1955 Ford ranch Wagon Parking brake question?

I found the bracket , it bolts to the left rear lower ear on the transmission cross member.
Problem solved. Thanks to all that replied.

Re: 1955 Ford ranch Wagon Parking brake question?

Glad you found it. The location of one on the frame of a '55 Tbird probably wouldn't have helped at all.
