Google Maps question

You can go to Google Maps and select a site and can go back in time a few years when you are on a Street View.

Is it possible to do the same when you are looking down on the site from an airal view?

For instance...I am looking at the Twin Cities Ford Assembly site located at 966 Mississippi River Blvd. South. It shows that it is demolished, gone.

However when I go to a Street View, I can go back to 2011 and it is still standing...I can go to September 2013 and it is still standing...But after that it is gone.

Again, is it possible to go back in time and get an airal view of the plant before it was demolished?

Thanks.

Pluck

Re: Google Maps question

After selecting the time scale there are quite a few points in time one can go back to on the sliding scale that is provided. But only so far back in time.
On mine I can go back to march of 1993
The time scale doesn't work in Street View for me though.

Re: Google Maps question

This feature is only available with Google Maps using street view. Not possible with an arial view.

Also, it is not available for all locations. It isn't available for my town (Bellingham, WA) but it is for Chicago, for example. On a location by location basis, you can go back as far as 2007.

It is available also on Google Earth Pro

I don't have Google Earth Pro but I assume the "map over time" feature includes the standard overhead view.

Like this site?

It will show both arial and topo maps of area, being able to go back in time, and see the progress. There are different ways of comparing two map images to each other, and you have the ability to overlay the modern road ways over the historic image.
