Lever shock ID experts please step up! I’m immersed in a multi-year restoration of a 36 3 Window coupe. There are no shock rebuilders, of this era and type, in Canada, of which I’m aware. The currency-converted cost of four rebuilt shocks, plus freight both way, of cores and finished shocks would be about $1600 Canadian dollars. Taxes additional. I’m been trying to justify a tube shock kit, instead, at half the cost, if not less.
In the interim, I continue to trip over shocks that have been taking up room in my shop for decades. Who can help me identify exactly what I have stocked up. I’m no expert! Speaking of not being an expert, can I email or text the photo I have taken of these shocks to someone smart and obtain assistance to load it in appropriate size/dimensions. Thanks in advance. Ron |

But I'd bet a Benjamin that Andrew Falendes could do it before finishing half a cup of coffee. He's my shock guy. Don't have the contact info handy but it could be [email protected] if I didn't just have a brain fart. Look around you can find his contact info. I get it that sending them over the border is a ball buster. What about one of the big guys that are north of the border. Who's that dude that recreated a Bugatti with the ridge down the spine? He should know where to get some shocks done up right, eh? |

Re: Lever shock ID experts please step up! Model A shocks in a row at the top on the left. A pair of '34 front socks on the bottom on the left side. Lots of upside down '33 front and rear and '34 rear in a group on the right side with couple for-sure '33s with the long slanted filler plugs. The two similar shocks at the top on the right are likely '35-'36 rears. Can't help with the remainder; sorry.

Re: Lever shock ID experts please step up! 4 with arms lower part of the photo are front shocks 37 to early 39 vintage. 8 with arms in the center of the photo, on left, are front shocks, later 39 to 40 front with a smaller diameter body and 41-48 with the larger diameter body. Some years have distinctive features that can not be distinguished from your photo. Later in 39 the front shaft seal was changed from adjustable to internally spring loaded and not adjustable. In 41 the diameter of the body changed and became larger. In 34 the body of the shock also increased from 33.

Been to the shop and saw the Bugatti. What a piece of craftsmanship! You might try the Reynolds Museum in Wetaskiwin as well. Did you from '34 to '35 rather than from '33 to '34 as the latter have the same size body whereas in the former pair, the '35 shock body is larger? |
Re: Lever shock ID experts please step up! I believe the rear shock body became larger in 34 and the fill plug and it's boss were modified, from the 33. I also believe the 35 and 36 rear shock is the same size as the 34. As you are aware I have been wrong before and may be incorrect here. I appreciate your correction if necessary. The club restoration books indicate the change in size took place in January of 34. I am wondering if you have an approximate idea when the new 33-34 restoration book will be on sale?
