I am the Moderator and founder of this group,we started off as the 1952-56 Ford Group in May 2009 two years later we expanded it to include 1957-59's. Finally got thru the shields and found the thread.

The main reason it is so difficult to retrofit a 54/56 is the height of the anchor pin, it is too short to accept the retaining plate and the cable eyelet. In this instance it was alleviated by not using the anchor plate and replacing it with a small washer.

The original poster mentioned that he found some thinner plates in his misc parts bin and used those,the guys that used the Dremel were folks that didn't have any spares laying about so you might do some digging instead of grinding. ;)
