35 Ford pickup grille

Can someone tell me what this bracket is attached to? It is the bracket that the hood side latch attaches to. My grille does not have one. Here is a picture.

Thank you...

Mystery Bracket on 1935 Ford Pick-Up that Shane is asking about?

Re: 35 Ford pickup grille

If it's like in the passenger models, that bracket [one each side] is attached to the radiator side straps via rivets and solder. It is what the front hood latch hooks under.

As Brian said , they were mounted on to the radiator side straps on my 35 Pickup.

With respect, recalling what Winston Churchill said about the English language, no one on this continent, including those who designed and built the radiators originally, would refer to the side panels of a radiator as "straps".:)

David, with respect...I'm not on your continent! And nor is IdeuceV8!! lol
At least I referred to it as a 'hood', not a bonnet so you could understand

Brian,

Of course you're not, but the party asking the question, ShaneF205, is on this continent, therefore ........

P.S. I know about bonnets, dickey seats, and wings, etc.. You need not translate for my benefit.

Re: 35 Ford pickup grille

Thank you, Gentlemen. Especially for the laughter of your commentary. So here's what I'm thinking... Since I don't have an original radiator with the brackets, I will make my own brackets and "JB Weld" them onto the inside of my grille. Let me know what you think?

Re: 35 Ford pickup grille

Don't think JB weld will do it.

I know a bonnet is something a baby wears and wings are something one eats at a 'sports bar' , but what on earth is a 'dickey seat' ? I hope it's not one of those wretched contraptions placed on the comode after surgery....

Re: 35 Ford pickup grille

A dickey seat is what you guys call a rumble seat
And...a scuttle is a cowl

....and I also agree that JB weld is not going to hold that bracket for very many latchings of the hood side panels....and maybe not even once.

Shane, also when looking at your picture, I noticed there is no lower radiator pan in place. This is usually important to prevent air from being pulled up through that opening into the engine compartment instead of through the radiator core to enhance cooling. Just saying

John,
The picture of the red pickup is NOT mine. I was just using the picture to show the bracket.

Thanks for your advice about the lower radiator pan.... Nice to know!
Shane
