My 63 1/2 Ford Galaxie

I sold the Galaxie today, as I never drive it anywhere. It just sits in the shop. I've driven it about 3 times so far this year, so now it's gone. All that's left is the 58 Chevy Yeoman. It doesn't get driven much, either. Maybe it's the next one to go.

Them '58 Chebbies with the "X" frame can't take a side hit very well.

The 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie is a very nice looking car.
This is the Cover of the Revised Sales Brochure.

Somewhere I have a picture (I think from the 80's) of a Monte Carlo wrapped around a pole just like that Chevy. I wish I knew where it is. Someone had posted the video of that 60 Chevy hitting a newer car head on, and the 60 didn't fare well there, either.

The buyer could have had both sets of tires wheels, but he didn't want the chrome reverse with RWL T/A radials, but instead only wanted the standard wheels with spoke wheel covers. I didn't tell him the spokes were from a Mustang, as pointed out by MercmanfromOz.

Are they wheels or wire wheel covers?

Seller's remorse yet ... :(

Back in the mid-60s I drove around a curve in the flat Mississippi delta and saw a large plume of dust in the road ahead. As I got closer the dust drifted enough that I could see a wrecked car. When I got up to it there was a '59 four door Chevy wrapped around a concrete bridge rail just like those pictures shown. I was VERY glad to see the driver standing out beside the car.

Re: My 63 1/2 Ford Galaxie

I was working at a small Ford dealer in 68/69, and we got a wrecker call to help pickup a one car accident. We found a 68 Pontiac Firebird (?) sitting next to a tree. The car had split right in front of the front seats and broke apart. The local junk yard came out with their flatbed to haul away the front half of the car, and we picked up the rear half. The guy had missed a curve and slid sideways into the tree. He was wearing his seatbelt/shoulder harness, and was still sitting in the seat when the car stopped. He walked to the ambulance when it came. He was mighty glad he was wearing his belts, no major injuries at all. Wish I'd had a camera with me then.

I know the feeling. If I only had more time and room for cars I'd likely be in heaven.

I actually think about selling one of my old Fords now and then. And then maybe I'll sell a second one...and finally be down to one very manageable old car.

However, I can't decide if I would keep the one that would be the most practical...or the most reliable...or that I like the styling of the best. It'll be hard to let them go, but it'll be harder to keep old cars maintained when I'm getting close to 80 (should I be that lucky...I'm 63 now.)

The real problem is that I collect other things, too. I figure my family deserves better than to be saddled with liquidating my hobby collections after I'm gone.

I'm a procrastinator, wonder what a stepson is going to do with the family jewels. Don't get me wrong I have tried all family connections. Be like the Minister's wife next door. Brought in dumpster for everything they didn't want. Very generous though, asked me If I wanted to buy her 70 Chevelle 2dr hrtp with AC, garage kept. Would have except short on money as usual.
