RIP Tom Magliozzi Public Radio hasn't been the same since the retirement of Click and Clack from "Car Talk".

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi RIP Tom. I did not realize they had retired from the show in 2012. I thought they were playing new shows up until today. They must have had a lot in the bank.

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi Best show, best advise, & best laugh. RIP you crazy guy!

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi I just found out recently that the show hasn't been live in years. I had been wondering why all the people who called in always had really old cars. Never failed to bring a smile!

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi Dead at 77 from Alzheimer's, what a shame. Its a terrible disease, took my father at 75.

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi Great show, great guys and the greatest laugh in the world. He will be missed.

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi Yep, that was the only talk show I listened to. Two years ago I thought about calling them up about the problem my 1999 Olds was having, but Mitch solved it when he told me to look at the ground connection under the carpet by the driver's step plate. All the trouble started because I accidentally locked my keys in the car one time. The police used a plastic wedge on the top of the door and hooked the lock open. I never gave a thought about this sprung the top of the door just enough to let water in during a rain, and the water stayed under the carpet and very slightly corroded the bulk ground connection. Thanks Mitch!:)
I sure hope Click and Clack stays on the air, even if they are repeats |
Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi I think the most memorable exchange was the one where a woman called in and asked if she should change the oil on her Honda. The exchange went something like this.
Tom: "You say you've NEVER changed the oil - ever?" "Nope, we have 114 thousand miles on the Honda now." Ray: "As in NEVER-EVER changed the oil?" "Nope - NEVER-EVER." Tom: "I would leave it alone. You might spoil it. You've got a good thing going here and you might ruin it if you change. Just keep on driving." So funny. Joe K |
Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi I believe it was the best car-related show on the radio. I download their podcasts to my iPod and enjoy them whenever I am in the car on a trip. I have the iPod set to NOT DELETE so I have quite a number of their shows. He will be very missed by many across the car hobby.

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi The NPR program Fresh Air rebroadcast an interview with Tom and Ray from 2001, I believe. Here is a link. After today, it may get updated with more recent shows, but you should be able to get access through this link one way or another. http://www.npr.org/programs/fresh-air/

Re: RIP Tom Magliozzi If you want to laugh out loud one more time, do a search for their list of "credits", Dewey, Cheatham and Howe, etc. You won't believe how many they had!
