Need help polishing a 1931 grill shell

I'm having a hard time removing the scratches from a 1931 polished stainless steel grill shell. I've used just about every number sand paper up to 1500 grit, still has scratches, does anyone have any idea what i can do? Thanks

Keep sanding! Or take it to a professional polisher.

Yeah, if you have noticeable scratches with 1500 grit, then you jumped about two steps in there. Deep scratches should be about gone with 600 grit. Almost all noticeable scratches should be gone by the time you start using 1000 grit. We take all our shells to 3000 grit. It is already starting to have a sheen before we ever put it against the buffer.

Mine was so bad I had to start at 320, 500,1200, 3000, polishing wheel now it looks like a mirror. Have to admit I was scared hitting it with 320 though! And don’t be in a rush take your time.
