Installing bottom hoses in an aftermarket radiator
 

The previous owner upgraded my is radiator on my '39 pikupp. The radiator is mounted 2 " closer to the engine. It looks like the turn down on the upper pipes is too much and there wasn't enough upper hose length, He shortened the radiator mounting rods as well. To install the bottom hoses(one has a heater hose mount in it) Do I need to remove the radiator/remove the bottom mounting bolts? Are there longer hoses?

Seeing as you seem to know who the previous owner is, why don't you contact him to get the information?
Rather than seek information from anyone who has never seen your installation to visualize a possible way to accomplish what you are trying to do.

Thanks. I dearly wish I could. The truck was over heating so he got another radiator. I know he had trouble installing it.

I think I will remove the radiator and study things. It could use a back flush anyway

clem, i've never had a 39 pu, but lets do some basic figgerin. if you remove the radiator to study, what can you study with it out of place? it needs to be in place to see what needs to be done. yes, the bottom bolts may need to be removed for the bottom hoses to slide on, i would try hard with it bolted in place first. short hoses can be tough, old stiff hoses can be tough too. even with new soft hoses, i like some sort of lube on them. i use anti seize, some will say its bad for rubber, but i will be dead before it fails. if there is room to slide the radiator to the front to make it easier, then take out the bottom bolts. after the bottom is on, the tops do not need an engineer to make it work. if they are too short, you can cut in the middle and put in a piece of tube to make the whole assembly longer, or go to the store and buy some "fits all" flex hose the right length, or study every hose hanging in the store to see if one from some new fangled car will fit. you can do it
