Electric choke

I have a 57 Fairlane with a unlock. Put a new Holly Carb. On it with electric choke. When the engine is cold it won’t kick off of fast idle like I would like it to. I understand it will come off of fast when it warms up but I would like that to be sooner than it is. What are the adjustment instructions for setting the choke?

Is the electric choke cover actually working? Does it open the choke all the way?
If it's working but really slow, check the "+" voltage to the heater coil. It should be 12 volts when the engine is running.
If it's 8 or 9 volts the power wire for the choke heater coil is connected to the wrong side of the ignition circuit.

Have you tried turning the thermostat cover slightly clockwise? the "Lean" indication on the cover.
That will disengage it slightly sooner. But too much will make it harder to start when really cold.
There should also be a fast-idle cam / speed adjustment screw below the choke housing that may work better for you.

If the end of the lever inside the cover isn't inside the loop at the end of the spiral spring it won't work right. photo 2

Re: Electric choke

Thanks that is what I was looming for. I think if I slow down the fast idle a bit it will help, then I will lean the choke a tiny bit at a time.
