3 5/16 bore in a 59a block
 

Will the 59a block safly take a 3.5/16 bore?If so will I have overheating problems?:confused:

3 5/16 is a safe overbore.
No overheating problems.
Be sure to have the block pickled before
doing any machine work on it.
Hot tanking alone will not get the rust out of the water jackets.

I’m no expert by any stretch but I have seen a bunch of em get bored at my buddy’s shop. In 10 or so years iv seen one 59 block hit water in one hole at 3 5/16”.
May have been rusty....could have been core shift. It got fixed.
That being said im not scared mine is at 3 3/8”.

Roger on that.
I have seen a couple of them get into porosity at .030 over in the old days.
Sonic testing sure saves wear and tear on the boring bar these days.

i run a 3 3/8 bore and i can't get the thing hot enough..

I've even seen 3 7/16 but that's getting pretty dodgy.
