1934 bumpers This question may have been asked before, but apart from the victoria rear bumper is there any difference between front and rear bumpers on 1934 passenger cars.
Will they interchange? I know 33's (apart from the very early ones) have 22" hole spacings and 34's have 26" but I am specifically asking about 1934's. Graham. |
Re: 1934 bumpers Graham ,as far as I know they are the same ,others may chime in

Re: 1934 bumpers Canadian parts catalogue for May 1934 shows Part number 40-17757-BR (front only), 40-17757-E (front bumper) chrome, but no reference to rear?

Re: 1934 bumpers Confining ourselves strictly to passenger car bumpers, the U.S. '34 chassis parts catalog cites 40-17757-A as the '33 only front bumper bar and 40-17757-E as the '34 front bumper bar. 40-17906-A is listed incorrectly as the '33-'34 rear bumper bar. Later catalogs correct the errors in the '34 catalog, at least with regard to the '33 bumpers, where both the front and rear bumper bars are listed as 40-17757-A, confirming that there is no difference between the '33 front and rear bars.
The later catalogs show 40-17906-A as the '34 rear bumper bar and continue to list the '34 front bumper bar as 40-17757-E. That suggests a difference front to rear as Ford would not change part numbers if the parts were unchanged. So, until some more in-depth research is done with the engineering drawings at the BFRC, I withdraw my comment in #4. |
