1940 Diff / brake drum help needed

I have been searching the main parts vendors for the outer bearing shell
(race?) that fits into the rear brake drum on a 40 ford. The bearing #68-1225 fits inside this shell and I haven't been able to find a supplier for this part.
Can anyone tell me where I might find one or give me a part number so I can check the bearing suppliers. Also looking for a bit of advice as to how to remove the old one. The only thing I can think of is to use a slide hammer but I think it may take some heavy wacking. Thats assuming I can find a new one to replace it.
thanks

You are probably right Ken but not where I live in Australia.

I would love to know how to get the old one out without damaging the drum?

On the 40 I don't think the race is removable. It is machined into the hub. It is replaceable on some of the 36-8.

If it is a removable race. Make sure!
A way that works is to run a bead of weld on the race surface. It'll shrink the race and it will come out much easier.

47 merc probably has a Canadian rear drum from the war which mostly used b-1225 brgs. Later when the 68- brgs were the common brg they made a 68-1236 sleeve for the later brg that slid into the b-1225 cavity.

I have removed stubborn races by taking a Mig welder and run a bead on the surface where the bearing rides. It should almost fall out.I did it on a 77 F100 rear axle bearing race and it worked.

You can't beat the parts knowledge of Fred Wilner at SSO, plus the fact he has the parts.
