model A on ebay...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1929-Ford-Mo...JY9Kku&vxp=mtr

listed as 780 miles might be a nice find..Strange that it would have a 4 blade fan, too bad it is 5 hours away and I'm not in the market for # 5 at this time, would be nice to look at, you just never know, but truly 780 miles ....

2526713 puts engine at Oct.1929

I'll take the mileage with a grain of salt.

Re: model A on ebay...

780 showed up on the odometer a few times I bet.

He says the horn was replaced. That and the thru-firewall heater cut out, the modern plugs, the float-a-motor mounts and the said 4 blade fan all together make it highly doubtful that the true mileage is anything like 780. Despite that $8.000 doesn't seem bad.

Honey comb core , floater motor mounts , Hmmmm at 780 miles ???????????

Re: model A on ebay...

It MUST be original unrestored car - with only 780 miles on the odometer.
I know this because it still has the original rain gutters !
The very early version - before the cars started having metal rain gutters.

And those poorly fitted covers on the front seats aren't factory originals.

I saw what you all saw and also noted the worn condition on the pedals. But, how could it be untrue - it's on the internet!

Anything with a mechanical odometer is amazingly easy to roll back to zero or whatever you want it to read. I've had to do it several times on my chevette (due to them breaking), my s10(old cluster died replaced with new cluster), and I did it to a speedometer I bought for my A.

My guess it was restored or engine majory rebuilt 780 miles ago and someone reset it.

car has been "restored" obviously................

A half vast restoration of that type was common in the late 1950's and 1960's.

I think it is a very fair price for the car.

I didn't see any price other than the bid hasn't met reserve yet.

The mileage on the trip is close to the number he listed if you read the 10th of a mile as a whole number, the total mileage is not even close.

My take on ebay cars is, it doesn't really matter what it says in the add. Same with craigslist. If you can go see it (only way I'd buy a car) and you know a little about it, you make your own assessment. No matter what you can only see so much, bet that you will throw large amounts of money at it. Is it what you want? Thats worth lots in my opinion, are you willing to pay more to get it in good shape, because you probably will. I'm picky about the mechanical condition, so I look for something that looks decent and spend my efforts on running/driving/stopping. Because a nice driving experience is what I'm after.

Looks like they are driving it with no gas in the tank. Either the gas tank is empty or the gas gauge doesn't work. Still a lot of work left to be done on this Tudor. One of my favorite model A body styles.
